Meet Steve Croucher, Randolph Union High School’s Athletic Director. Steve graduated from Ithaca College in 2010 with a Bachelor of Science degree in Recreational Management and a minor in Business Administration and Marketing.

We interviewed Steve recently in order to put this brief bio on the Orange Southwest web site, but when we checked out his web site,, we decided to let Steve tell his own story…

What is an athlete? The dictionary defines it as a person proficient in sports or physical exercise. If you ask Steve what the definition of athlete is, he would tell you it's more about "a lifestyle".

Growing up on the east coast in a PA farm town made it easy for Steve to invest himself into sport. He dedicated his time to being an athlete, and extracurriculars became a personal extension of himself. Soccer to swimming, he was in peak condition year-round. As a highly competitive swimmer of the Dallastown Wildcats, he received All American status two times, academically & in the pool in the 200 Freestyle Relay.
His acceleration in the water led him to a decision any high school senior would dream to have. Penn State or Ithaca College? Two great academic schools, two opportunities to continue his swimming career. He soon found himself repping blue and gold, swimming for the Ithaca Bombers later that year. Steve was more than successful as a Bomber, at one point holding state meet, conference, and school records & still holding top 10 team times in freestyle and backstroke events.

After graduation, Steve ventured to Colorful Colorado to pursue a career in recreation. He moved to Vail in 2011, working several industry jobs before landing with the Vail Recreation District as their Sports Coordinator and Trail Running Series Director in 2013.

With a void in his athletic career, Steve found a new love in XTERRA: the Premier Off Road Triathlon. This is where it all changed. XTERRA is a competition, yes. But for Steve it is so much more. It's a lifestyle.
Steve joined the staff at RUHS in the fall of 2015 and looks forward to growing and strengthening the athletic program; getting to know the athletes and their families; and developing new programs to involve more students in the school’s athletic programs.
