britSchool Choice 2018-19

The State of Vermont allows high school students to attend any public high school in Vermont, at no cost, through the “School Choice” program.

The School Choice law sets the rules and limitations regarding the number of entering and exiting student slots that are allowed per school. Students are chosen by lottery from all the applications received by each school district, based on the number of open slots.

You may view the School Choice law and other pertinent information at the Vermont Agency of Education website.

As in previous years, the Orange Southwest School Board has chosen to participate in the Winooski Valley Regional Public School Choice Collaborative for 2018-19.

If you are an “out of district” family and your student is interested in attending Randolph Union High School during the 2018-19 school year, please contact Karen Johnson at 802-728-3397, or via email at

You can also download the application form from the “documents box” to the left, fill it out, and return it to: Randolph Union High School, Student Services, 15 Forest St., Randolph, VT 05060 by February 22, 2018.

You will be informed of the outcome of the lottery by April 1, 2018. You will need to confirm whether your student will accept or decline the placement by April 15, 2018. If you do not confirm placement by that date, your slot may be given to another student if the school has a waiting list.

Note: Parents are responsible for providing their student’s transportation if they are chosen.
