OSSD is now accepting preschool enrollment registrations for 3, 4, or 5 year old children for the 2022-2023 school year If your child will be at least 3 by September 1st and you are interested in free preschool in Braintree, Brookfield or Randolph Elementary schools please contact Stephanie Reyes at or you can call 728-9555.

And here's some exciting news:  If your child is 4-years-old you can now enroll in an at-home learning program thanks to the early education nonprofit, It comes complete with a chromebook computer and internet access (if needed) at no cost. The Waterford Upstart program is being piloted in our area thanks to philanthropic funding.

Once enrolled, all 4-year-olds will receive a chromebook that you can keep after the program concludes. If you do not have internet access, will provide that as well, at no cost. This early learning program is proven effective and when used just minutes a day, a child’s reading skills will increase through fun and interactive activities. Spaces are limited, so if you are interested in this opportunity, please contact Heba Abdella at 732-407-4437, or via email at To learn more, visit

Our Philosophy

We believe that children learn best in a caring and nurturing environment where they can explore, create and have a variety of play experiences.  Learning opportunities should be developmentally appropriate and address all areas of growth including social emotional, physical and cognitive development. The education of young children is a collaboration involving teachers, specialists, families, and communities. Our programs offer an abundance of opportunities for children to be outside, participating in active play and interacting with nature.

Our Early Education Program

The OSSD  has three early education programs that any family living in our school district can access free of charge. Families may indicate their preference of school and we will do our best to meet your needs. All district preschool programs are lead by a certified early education teacher and include all preschool children regardless of disability.

Our preschool programs operate morning and afternoon sessions for district 3-year olds Monday - Thursday. Children who are 4 by September 1st are eligible for free Monday-Thursday full day programming in each district elementary school.

Throughout the year we accept new applications and students will remain on our waiting list until they enter kindergarten.

All three schools will offer children the very popular Educating Children Outdoors (ECO) program which has students outside each week in their outdoor classrooms.

“As an educator, it’s been my observation that children who spend time in high quality preschool benefit socially, academically, and intellectually, and I’m excited that the OSSD can offer this to families," says Pat Miller, former principal at Braintree School and current Early Ed Administrator. "Our preschool staff has received specialized training in operating outdoor classrooms and are very enthusiastic about bringing this opportunity to area preschool students. Each week children will spend a ½ day or more outside in the woods and fields surrounding each school learning about nature and exploring the great  outdoors."

If you have any questions regarding preschool in the OSSD, please do not hesitate to give us a call or drop us a line.
