The Pre-Technical Foundations program is offered to students in grades 8-10 from a partnership with our four sending schools.

The program offers students an opportunity to explore different college & career pathways. Through hands-on projects and activities students are introduced to general STEM (Science, Technology, Engineering, and Mathematics) careers. Students begin their exploration into careers associated with general career pathways, which helps them plan their academic path through grades 11 and 12. The goal of the program is to introduce students to the exciting and often overlooked world of STEM careers, as well as to help them begin to develop their Personal Learning Plans, and walk away with a pathway through graduation and into college and career development.

In the Pre-Technical Foundations classrooms, students will be exposed to projects that encourage them to ask "why?" and "what?" is happening in a specific scientific or mathematical activity.

Through hands on activities like robotics, coding, understanding drone science, engineering, and other projects, students will explore career fields related to what they accomplish. Students will walk away from the class with four main objectives:

  • What did I make?
  • What math & science understanding can I take away from the learning?
  • What careers are related and possible for me?
  • How do I build a pathway to the college and or career related to my learning?
