As part of our planning for the 2022-23 school year, the district sought community input on how to prioritize the next round of Federal Funding that has been provided to the district to respond to the impacts caused by the COVID-19 pandemic: ARP ESSER III Grant.
The following link will take you to the survey results:
At the end of the first year of COVID, the district pulled together a representative team to assess our needs relative to the pandemic in the form of a written needs assessment. The team then used the assessment to create a recovery plan, which was implemented using the remaining ESSER I funds and the ESSER II funding. In late winter of the 2021-22 school year, the team came back together to evaluate the impact of the recovery plan and to determine which programs and practices should continue into the 2022-23 school year, which should be eliminated, and which should be added. Those plans can be accessed by the link below, and the final evaluation will drive how the district uses the final round of federal grant money: ESSER III/ARP.
Needs Assessment, Education Recovery Plan, and Plan Evaluation and Refinement
During the 2020-21 school year, the district began planning a safe return to full in-person instruction. Using available advice from the CDC, the Vermont Department Health, local health professionals and the Agency of Education, the district created and implemented extensive protocols to create a safe school environment that would properly support a full return to normal operations. That document can be accessed through the link below.
OSSD COVID Protocols for a Safe Return to School
As the progress of the pandemic became clearer, the district developed a phased plan to bring all students back to full in-person instruction and a return to normal operations. That plan which was fully executed, can be accessed via the link below.
To better inform the timeline of the phased return, the district administered a learning modality preference survey in order to receive wider community input into the decision making process. That survey was conducted multiple times. The November 2020 results of that survey by program are available through the links below as exemplars.
The OSSD strongly urges all students, staff and community members interacting with the schools to follow the recommendations of the Vermont Department of Health, which can be found at the following link:
